Hanna Boys Center

Perform a Business Model Analysis to Help Hanna Boys Center Improve Financial Performance

Hanna Boys Center changes the lives of troubled, motivated youth through faith, education and caring, helping them grow into productive members of society.

Hanna is a "haven of hope" for troubled boys and their families. Our mission is to provide a "home away from home" for boys who are underprivileged, troubled, and seriously at-risk. We serve more than 100 boys at any given time, between ages 13 and 18, and we educate them in small classes from grades eight through twelve. Hanna believes that every boy deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, to be empowered to fulfill their maximum potential and become contributing members of society.

Founded in 1945, Hanna Boys Center is nestled in the heart of the peaceful Sonoma Valley, located one hour north of San Francisco. Serving troubled boys between the ages of 13 and 18, the center draws youngsters from as far away as Washington State and North Carolina, though most come from the greater San Francisco Bay Area.

With an average resident population of 100 boys, the Center nonetheless receives up to 600 inquiries each year and has strict guidelines for admission. Families are charged tuition based upon their financial situation. No boy is ever turned away for financial reasons.

Hanna Boys Center provides its students with full-time residential treatment and educational services along with health care, physical education, sports and recreational opportunities. The on-campus school is fully accredited.

Hanna has asked our team to perform a business model analysis and to make recommendations to optimize financial performance and to reduce the need to draw from Hanna's endowment to sustain operations.  Potential recommendations may include alternative business and operating models, additional marketing and fundraising ideas.
